Why Some PTs Grow Online & Others Don’t
The world of online coaching is crowded. Everyone’s trying to build a presence, grow their brand, and land more clients.
Or at least, that’s what it looks like.
But the truth? Most aren’t even in the game.
Let me explain.
I used to be a personal trainer. I still train 3–4 times a week, and I’ve worked with many coaches—some are killing it, and some... not so much. Right now, I’ve got two online coaches as clients who are smashing it. But more on them in a bit.
Let’s start with PT #1.
They’re a solid coach. Years of experience. Know their stuff inside and out. But they’re struggling to transition online. Why?
Because they barely make any content.
They’ve got big ambitions but aren’t talking about what they do. No one knows they’re even trying to build an online business. And if no one knows, how are they ever going to get clients?
They’re invisible.
Then there’s PT #2.
Also a great coach. And unlike PT #1, they are making content. Lots of it.
But here’s the issue: Their strategy is off. It’s the same thing over and over again. No structure. No insight. Just content for content’s sake.
They’re picking up clients, but not enough to grow. They’re stuck treading water, floating—not sinking, but not moving forward either.
It’s not bad content… t’s just not effective.
meet PT #3 and PT #4.
These two are my clients. They are two very different personalities, two very different niches, but both with a shared trait:
They take serious action.
They don’t just post. They plan. They don’t just guess. They test. They don’t panic when something doesn’t land—they pivot and try something new.
And yes, working with me helps. I hold them accountable and give them the structure to stay consistent. But ultimately, it’s them taking the steps every single week that makes the difference.
Because that’s what it takes in a competitive space: Relentless execution. Smart pivots. And content that actually connects.
The moral of the story?
If you want to grow online:
Start. Don’t overthink. Take the first step.
Stay flexible. If something isn’t working, change it.
Stay consistent. In your message and in your posting.
The clients who see the best results aren’t always the most talented or the most confident. They’re the ones who are organised, planned, structured, and adaptable.
And let’s be real—if you’re creating content at all, you’re already giving yourself a better chance than those who don’t.
If you’ve made it to the end of this post, thank you. That already tells me you’re committed to improving and growing your business.
